Fees and Rebates

Medicare Rebates

Those clients who have been referred by a GP under the Better Access Scheme will get substantial rebates for 10 individual AND 10 group sessions per calendar year. Although you can claim the Medicare rebate, there is usually a gap fee involved.

Rebates as at 01/11/2012 (The Government will not increase the rebates until 2018!)
Clinical Psychology – Individual Service $124.50
Clinical Psychology – Group Service $31.65
Generalist Psychologist – Rebate of $84.80

Clients who have reached the Medicare safety net threshold pay only a small gap fee of approx. $10.00 – $18.00, depending on session length.

Fees

Fees vary slightly across morning and evening hours and across practitioners. The fee for a session with a Clinical Psychologist (50 minutes face to face) is $215 from 1 August 2018. When referred under Medicare the gap fee is from $85.00.

Concession rates are $50 out of pocket per 50 minute session when under Mental Health Care plan. Concession rates can be negotiated for individuals who are students, or have a health care card.

Couples therapy is a surcharge of $20.00 to the individual session per 50 minute session. Medicare rebates are not available for couples therapy.

New clients pay a non refundable deposit of $60.00 to secure the appointment. The deposit is offset against the first session fee.
